getting old...

i just wanted to share some great news...my best friend from childhood had a baby boy! cyndi and greg lubben (you all probably remember her as cyndi coleman) welcomed baby jacob into the world and even sent a picture! i can't wait to get down there and meet him!

weddings and babies all over the place...i guess it's time to start growing up.

hobbies & whatnot

some fun new things going on since we came back from vacation...

luke and i (and payton and sarge) decided to move to a bigger place that accomodates all of us. finally! we found a cute house (4 bedroom, 2.5 bath with a yard!) just up the road that we're going to rent for a year...that is, until we save enough for house purchase! we move in august 10th and although i'm dreading the packing part, i am excited to have a little more storage space..for all my shoes, of course! this is a big step for luke and i as well and we're pretty thrilled. will post pictures soon...

the next fun thing..mom came out this past week and she, pops, luke and i made it down south to see james taylor in concert-a great show! we also visited vancouver (pop's birth place, where relatives lay at rest and my grandparent's old houses)...it's such a cute little (growing) town and it was fun to see "kiggins" on lots of buildings and the movie theater.
work is going well, just extremely busy, as i decided to supervise a new grad student through her clinical fellowship year...time consuming, but kind of fun at the same time. how easily i've forgotten starting off in my career and how fast time goes (i've almost completed 3 years since graduating!).

finally, i've been trying to get back into photography and love the feedback from everyone on pictures here and there. i bought myself a nice canon a while back and am (slowly) getting back into it. the plan is to continue one of my passions...thought i would post a couple recent pics that turned out kind of cute (in my mind anyway! ;)
hope everyone is enjoying these last days of july! love to all...
ps the baby is my cousin, cj. :)

family, friends & fun in florida!

well, we made it to florida a couple weeks ago and got to spend 9 whole days there! sometimes stand-by travel just works. ;) it was a wonderful (busy) 9 days, but a much needed vacation and good time had by all. my aunt kathy and three cousins, kaity, kevin and casey were visiting as well, so my parents had a packed house-10 people altogether! air mattresses aren't so bad and really, the more, the merrier.

we spent the july 4th holiday up in gainesville (boo gators!) visiting uncle scott and his crew. pool, pictures, bbq, cookies (of which kaity and i ate most of), baby cj, lots of coleman family and of course, fireworks (thanks scott!) consumed the day and it was wonderful to get to spend time with family i don't see much of.

the following few days were filled with the beach, seafood, family, gram's movie collection, shopping (yes, the girls all have matching vera bradley purses now), baseball games, running (luke discovered how much weight you lose while running in florida in the summer) and just catching up. payton learned to dive on this trip and was pretty thrilled to do it off the side and even the diving board!

we spent the only overcast, rainy day at wet-n-wild (water park) where the boys made me and kaity go down the bombay (a water slide where you start in a chute that the floor drops out of, shooting you down a 6-story water slide-not frightening at all). yep, lost my bikini top on that one!

we then spent a full day at disney's magic kingdom and a full day at hollywood studios, riding all the rides, walking, watching lots of shows, eating the healthiest food on earth, sweating, eating more healthy food, walking and sweating some more and of course, riding the boat through "it's a small world" (boys favorite).

the last day was spent in the boat out in the gulf of mexico, water skiing, tubing, finding a billion sandollars, more seafood and just relaxing. it was a wonderful vacation and hard to come back.

until next time sunny florida....
